I’m an award-winning designer who’s worked in the industry across a range of design roles since 2009.
I've worked for the BBC since 2015; currently, I'm the User Experience Principal for brand and visual design. This is a horizontal role across the BBC UX&D team and BBC Product Group, which also involves collaboration and relationship building with teams across the organisation as a whole.
Key responsibilities in my current role
• Bringing expert craft and creative practice to the department in support of key strategic priorities.
• Acting as a catalyst for collaboration to help join up initiatives related to brand and visual design. Bringing colleagues together to focus on a specific design challenge.
• Play a key role in evolving the BBC’s brand and visual design skills across BBC digital products.
• Foster relationships with designers both within and outside UX&D, developing an understanding of the application of branding in digital experiences.
• Help to build a visual design practice in the BBC UX&D team.
• Be a thought leader: a senior point of expertise on user experience and design issues, industry trends, or developing technologies.
I also enjoy lecturing about information design, data visualisation, and UX design, I’ve been a guest lecturer at York St. John University, London South Bank University, and the Press Association's NCTJ diploma course. Giving talks on my career, information design and data visualisation best practices, UX practice applied to information design, and setting practical briefs for the students.
